intelligent efficiency is a small consulting firm focused on the advocacy and          demonstration of integrated lighting and HVAC technologies.  

 

We believe the adoption of simple, cost effective integration strategies can significantly increase the whole building efficiency of our country’s six million small and medium commercial buildings.  These buildings make up 90% of all existing commercial buildings, and the vast majority have little or no building control capabilities.  Together, they represent a huge untapped opportunity to deliver large energy savings to building owners while delivering meaningful energy and carbon reductions to the utility grid.

 

In our product and technology research, we favor solutions that utilize open and interoperable protocols. Unlike proprietary solutions, open solutions are inherently designed to be scalable, interoperable and future-ready.  And those distinct product qualities ensure that durable operational and financial benefits can flow to the building owner and the grid for years to come.

 

After nearly four decades of experience with HVAC and lighting controls retrofits, our team knows well that control systems and integration in smaller commercial buildings will only become commonplace when:
